Ticket to Bollywood

Hindi cinema, often known as Bollywood and formerly referred to as Bombay cinema, is the Indian Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai (formerly Bombay). The term is a combination of “Bombay” and “Hollywood.” The industry is closely connected with the cinema of South India and other regional Indian film industries, collectively forming Indian cinema, one of the world’s largest film industries by the number of feature films produced. Since the introduction of talkies in 1931, India has produced more than 67,000 films in over 30 languages.

To get a glimpse into this fascinating industry, we have designed a special tour that gives guests an insight into the world of Bollywood within a short period. The tour starts in the afternoon and concludes by the evening.

14:00 hrs

Upon arrival at the film location, guests will be welcomed and greeted by the Bollywood guide. The guide will then introduce guests to the origin and evolution of the Indian film industry, from the silent-film era and the introduction of talkies to the present day.

15:00 hrs – 16:00 hrs

A special dance performance by Bollywood dancers will be presented, followed by a briefing on the Bollywood era of the past. The presenter will share insights into the history and mechanics of film shooting, followed by an entertaining dance number performed by professional artists. Guests are welcome to join in and experience the vibrant Bollywood beats.

The guests will then be escorted to various shooting locations, where they may have the opportunity to watch the filming of feature films, TV serials, or advertising films. They will gain an exciting insight into the process, mechanics, and execution of a professional film shoot.

16:00 hrs – 17:00 hrs

Guests will also have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a professional recording studio and learn how VFX is used in modern filmmaking. They will then be escorted back to the entrance, where they will be received by our representative.

From there, we proceed towards Juhu and Bandra to catch a glimpse of the homes of some of Bollywood’s most famous film stars, viewed from the outside.

17:30 hrs

We then drive into the city to watch a Bollywood movie at one of Mumbai’s iconic single-screen theatres, such as Regal or Eros. These historic theatres have hosted premieres and screenings of some of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters in the presence of leading film stars.

Steeped in nostalgia, these theatres still retain their old-world charm and traditional cinema experience, having preserved their character despite the rise of modern multiplexes.

18:30 Hrs

We now arrive at the theatre to watch a Bollywood movie, the Mumbai way. It is a truly authentic experience to sit among the local crowd and enjoy a movie the way Mumbaikars do, surrounded by the energy, excitement, and enthusiasm of the audience.

Regal Cinema was designed by Charles Stevens, the son of the renowned 19th-century architect F. W. Stevens. Its interiors, featuring extensive mirror work, were designed by Czech artist Karl Schara. The main auditorium featured sunray motifs in pale orange and jade green. The interiors were thoughtfully designed to create a sense of airiness, coolness, and spaciousness, complementing the modern simplicity of the building’s exterior.

Regal was constructed entirely using reinforced cement concrete (RCC), was fully air-conditioned, and featured an underground parking facility for patrons. The elevator connecting the parking area to the building was considered a major innovation at the time. Today, the historic building serves as a multi-use property, combining the theatre with shops at street level.

The clients will be escorted to the auditorium by our representative for their convenience. During the interval, local snacks such as samosas, cold drinks, or cutting chai will be served.

21:00 Hrs: After the movie, guests will be transferred to their respective hotels.
