Since Man separated himself from other animals, and
attained the necessities of life, he has reached a stage where his mind starts
searching for peace. This search has led several saints and sages to learn
more about moksha - eternal peace after death. This sacred quest has perhaps
been most deeply seated in India and in pre-historic times Indian saints and
sages established the four Dhams (shrines) of God - popularly known as the
four corners of the country - viz. Puri/Jagannath, Rameshwaram, Dwarka and
Badrinath - Although the pilgrim may pass through many difficulties as he
completes his journey he finds a cleansing from his sins and rises to spiritual
heights and at last obtains moksha.
